I have looked all over the Internet and I can find the size and length of the exhaust bolts going into the manifold.  I lost one and need to just get a replacement.  I have a 2000.  May be a stupid question but I'm trying to find them and have been unsuccessful.

It can be a shoulder bolt or not, in which case you add a washer.

OEM Part:     BOLT      D7109-0840B
They are about 80 cents each, need a washer to go with it.
(PM me your address and I'll throw one in the mail for you.)

Older part number which is a shoulder bolt:
BOLT   07120-0840A (replaces 07120-08405)
These are $2 or so each.

Oh adidas, looks like you've been wiping your greasy motorcycle repair hands on that poor cat and it is quite mad ...  :icon_twisted:

Bolts?....pah!

Why those tight asses in Hamamatsu made the decision to put them in I will never know.......probably saved them 0.00003 Yen per bike in production costs  :dunno_black:

There are many mods you can carry out on the old GS5 but junking those header bolts while they will still come out and fitting something like these instead.... http://www.ebolt.co.uk/stainless-engine-exhaust-stud-m8x50--brass-nut--wash-2-off-1251-p.asp should be #1.

Doing it could save you a lot of time, money and frustration in the future......as several in here will testify  :thumb:

Hi sledge et al,
I've been considering swapping out the bolts with studs, too.
Anyone know where we can get stainless steel studs with nuts and bolts right here in the US rather than having to order them from UK?
Thanks,
Trwhouse  :)

I'm using some threaded rod I picked up at Fastenal for now along with nuts I bought at Home Depot but they're rusting something fierce. I think stainless would do me good.
