I've heard that these bike if with well maintenance this bike can last over 70k but what are some things I should watch for when I go test ride the bike / look at the bike and so most would agree this is to good to be true deal?

Take someone with you Preferably someone who knows bikes. Two sets of eyes are better than one and what you may miss they will pick up. Things to look for are - Road rash on engine casings, bent levers, missing bar ends, odd mismatching body parts are all signs the bike has been down. Not that this is always a bad thing as most bike do have a mishap sometime in there life. It is just if the seller is trying to tell you it hasn't this is what to look for. If the bike has been down look for fork and frame damage. Also dodgy tank repairs.
When you go to look at a bike ask the owner to not start it until you get there. You want to see how it starts from cold. Feel the header pipes to make sure it is cold. After starting it look for smoke from the exhaust. Keep an ear out for any unusual noises. When the bike is warm rev the engine and watch for flat spots and missing. Shut it off and check the oil level. On a GS you hold the bike upright, unscrew the dipstick, wipe it, put it back in but don't tighten it. Let it rest on the threads then check the level. Check for tyre condition and age. Check for signs of lack of maintenance like rusted and slack chains and worn sprockets.

heres the simple version:

-85mph is doable.
-that bike hasnt been ridden in a good amount of time, look at the rust on the brake discs, that amount of rust took weeks to months to accumulate on my bike.
-It has been dropped/wrecked
-Its going to take some work to run perfectly, or maybe not?
-It can be faster than your ninja, and you can jet it and put performance exhaust/filter on it and eek more power out of it.
(my 98 pegged just over 110 on the clock at its fastest ever speed, but could accelerate to 90 with relative ease.)
-Its cooler than a ninja 'cuz I said it is.
-If it has been well maintained (OIL OIL OIL) and you continue to do so, you can make it last indefinitely. (Barring catastrophic breakdown)
-You can do any or learn any maintenance yourself.
- Its the cheapest bike to own, in my opinion, by fuel and upkeep costs

where you are 900 is a fine deal for a 2001, with this forum and patience, you can solve any problem you would run into.
I rode my GS5 for more than 3 years, rode the everliving shaZam! out of it, and still miss it.
