metal pieces found inside sprocket case.

ok just had my bike tore down for a tune up and while when i took open the sprocket cover i found two small pieces of metal round and both were broken but i could piece two whole rings together with what i found. they are round and very thin about half a centimeter in diameter . any body got any idea what these could be .
