Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

i'll probably not be popular for this...

.. but i am very keen to see if it works as described at the moment... agree that it could go wrong if expanded blanket style...

but if it DOES put a crimp in the illegal dealings of the gangs then go for it!

...

note... i have no real issues with clubs/gangs per se ... its the illegal drug trafficking and the criminal dealings in general that get done ... thats what makes me frown..

they want to ride in a crowd of 100 along a road... i dont care .. it does sound good! .. they want to have rallys and social events to enjoy their bike culture .. again i dont care ...

they want to deal drugs to people and high school kids .. and intimidate/terrorise/beat up/kill people because 'this is our turf' .. i'd happily push the button on an electric chair till the button wore out!

ive said before... a gang of bikies helped my grandma out on a country road one time... which is great ..

but again... if this legislation hurts their criminal dealings... and discourages others from starting the criminal stuff... then fine with me!

Banzai

A lot of us can see this not going well. The Qld government will be able to add to the list of proscribed organisations without legislative oversight. They have already foreshadowed extending the list industries that will be more closely controlled. Part of the irony is that some of the worst bikie gangs hardly have any bike riding members anymore.

Add South Australia's attempts to do something similar, Victoria and its new Speed Camera rules and this country is turning to shite. New Zealand is sounding more attractive every day.
Wherever you may be, there you are.

yeah fair enough...

not knocking NZ at all!! ... but grass is greener eh? .. they have their own set of issues too! ...  :dunno_black:

Like what? So the fuel is $2.70 a litre and there is the odd earthquake but what else?

... but its not all roses and chocolate milkshakes!! ..  :thumb:

Not all the bikies are bad. Its just a few of the young ones ruining it for the old boys.
I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

But here's the thing Janx, the legislation is not about getting the crims. If it were I'd back it completely. BUT the pernicious thing about this legislation is how it'a aimed at all so-called 'bikies' -most of whom are just ordinary good blokes with a hobby like us. (I don't know why they aspire to be a part of those clubs, but they have a right to it in a free country).
Imagine passing a law like this aimed at say, fishers, real estate agents, company directors, (few REAL crims in there! - well not the fishers obviously apart from the odd undersized!), just because they identify with their particular group.
And here's the thing. Justice and the law must be about penalising those who break the law. This legislation makes you a guilty man just by association, you don't need to have committed any crime, but they can put you in the slammer anyway. Pre-emptive policing, which is what this is, means you can become criminalised without having even committed a crime.
The so-called 'free World' spent decades undermining and fighting the eastern block countries on the basis that they had laws JUST LIKE THIS.
What hypocrites we are.
Meanwhile the REAL criminals (who wear suits), are laughing all the way to the bank.
Just a last thing. If you were running a drug operation, would you really be so dopey as to make yourself so conspicuous - Harley and colours etc - as to just invite the cops to stop and search you? Kidding me!
Sigh!!!
Beam me up Scottie....

There's tons of bikies in my area. You go to the shops and they're there.. but I've had no trouble with any of those blokes unlike those little sh** lad boys. The shootings you see on the news are internal, so they're only wiping themselves out.. don't really understand why the government is so up in arms about it seeing as they're really sorting the problem out FOR them. Just kneejerk policy to alleviate public hysteria I guess.

That's the problem with feel good laws.  If applied in the spirit it was created for, then they can do some good things, but often these laws can be applied unevenly and innocent people get hurt.  We have our share of "anti-gang" laws here in the states...

I remember a few years ago a small group of christian bikers was pulled over by a gang unit in Mesa, AZ, photographed (including identifying body marks), their biked searched, and detained for hours.  All in the name of feel good legislation.  These guys were working professionals and good men.  They made quite a stink and the story made the rounds in the news.

In response for 3 years in a row (republican) state senators have tried to pass a biker anti profiling bill.  It keeps failing, but will hopefully pass some year.

Even tho as of now im not an aus resident, I agree. BUT how do they decide who and what to pull over, we seem to have this problem in the states. some call it profiling, some whatever. id like to see how they decide, " well that's just a bunch of chaps, out for a good ride, and THAT however theyre up to no good.
