Hi all,

Just got my bike licence a few weeks ago, Picked up a Cheap 08 Gs500f interstate as a first bike and small project while im on my LS and PS.

Should of prob got some pics of what it looked like when i picked it up, totally forgot but there is another one around my town exact same colour, so i thought id have a go at vinyl wrapping... did a heap of research and online video watching, Then my mate got me onto Plasti Dip.. id heard about it ages ago but never seen results etc, looked up a few videos on youtube and thought id give it a shot.
Also if i get bored of it later on it peels right off.

First up heated and peeled off all the factory decals (minus tank due to clear coat) and spent a couple hours cleaning the gunk/glue off the plastics with brake cleaner and elbow grease. (they were all faded anyways)

removed all fairings this morning and cleaned ready for paint

Gave them like a million coats, (prob about 5 actually) pretty easy to paint also, the plasti dip sort of evens out as it dry's.

Also had some free time after work the other night so removed std muffler and replaced it with one from a Yamaha R1,
Due to the R1 mufflers being up under the seat, i had to cut the side bracket off, also drilled the pop rivets out the top and bottom cone bits, and cut the top off to make it a bit louder, refit the top cone and drilled new holes and re pop riveted it. got a $10 s/s clamp from the local farm machinery shop and bent up a bracket to mount it to the old mount, bent up an adaptor from exhaust tubing (should prob mention i work in an exhaust/mechanical workshop). due to the pipe going to the muffler being titanium i couldnt weld it, so used the R1 wire gasket and clamped it to the mild steel.

I have painted it gloss black atm, but once i pull it off to fit the lower cone back on ill be painting it matt black as i think it will suit the gun metal grey better
