Little bastarts woke up because the heat is on more now that I am home more often.  Took me a week to find the nest.

My guess is you will use a seven second burst of Raid.

If those are carpenter ants, bug bomb them, and then carefully take the nest apart with a can of raid handy.
Make sure the tunnels don't extend into any part of the structure of the house. If it does call a pro, because otherwise you'll never get them all...

hey john.. funny story.
when i moved into my house i kept finding them all over my kitchen everytime it warmed up.  Finally found a pile of sawdust under the hollow core door leading to the basement.  I took it out in the driveway and knocked it open with a hammer and crowbar and there ;must have been 3000 of them in there.  Screw the Raid... Lighter and WD40 all the way... woo hoo.

Carpenter ants.  They actually nested in the insulation.  My house is made with southern yellow pine which is rather tough for a carpenter ant.  Plus it' a sub colony of a much larger colony living in the cherry stump next to the house.

No wood damage at all  :thumb:  I sprayed them with ant & termite poison.  Then I heard all these rice krispy noises coming from the insulation I pulled down,  I realized the ants were inside the insulation so I moved it outside and it had thousands in there.  Damndest thing I ever saw.  Usually they nest up in a door or window -not fiberglass insulation.

Anyway not an ant in site today -not a single one :thumb: The house does smell like pioson but it's wearing off.  Worth it IMHO.
