I'm sure at least a couple of you have seen something like this before.

At any rate...behold...SCIENCE!

It gave me chills the first time I heard/watched it. It's such a great song for that! I already loved the song so now I love it even more.

If you've never seen a Tesla coil in person, that video does not do any justice to how loud they are. I'm amazed people were allowed to stand that close without at least some foam ear plugs.

people in public be stoopid!  :icon_lol:

have heard one live before... but not playing music... just crackling away ... i was maybe 30 yards from it and yeah! .. initially i looked up to see if the ceiling was falling!

damned impressive. this the same thing they would have in science museums, which you could touch and make your hair pull a don king?

:dunno_black:

It's not the voltage that'll kill you, it's the current.

Also, providing you don't somehow manage to ground yourself to the primary windings (might be secondary, can't remember) you're fine.

What appears to be one arc is actually thousands of pulses. Just changing the frequency of the pulse and turning the coil on/off rapidly yields what you see in the video.

And yes, a Van De Graaff generator is what you played with in school to make your hair stand up.

... and this is why people know less and less about the miracles of science. Thanks. :flipoff:
