I was wondering if i start up / warm up my GS on a regular basis w/o riding during these wonderful days of winter, am i doing more harm than good?

Unless you can ride it for 15 or 20 minutes regularly, you are best off to winterize it and let it sit.

Starting it without a decent warm-up ride is the worst thing you can do. It maximizes cold start-up wear, and doesn't generate enough heat to get rid of the water you are creating in the oil and exhaust. You will also drain the battery without really re-charging it. There really isn't an upside to starting it in the garage.

I have to disagree with Kevin here. The sweet purring will warm you up inside and you will feel much better after. It'll do a lot of good to you. :cheers:
