95 GS 500 TOP END NIGHTMARE......

 HELLO EVERYONE, IM NEW HERE SO I WANT TO SAY THX FOR ANYONES HELP, I JUST GOT A 95 GS 500 ,THE MOTOR WAS LOCKED UP SO I TOOK THE MOTOR OUT AND PROCEEDED TO REMOVE MOTOR,WHEN I FINALLY GOT DOWN TO THE PISTONS, ONE HAD NO SIGN OF WEAR BUT THE RIGHT PISON THE RINGS WERE WORN ALL THE WAY DOWN TO PISTON,AFTER SCRATCHING MY HEAD I NOTICED THAT WHEN I TOOK THE PIECE OF (FORGIVE IMPROPER TERMS)PIECE THAT BOLTS TO CRANK HAS TIMING MARKS ON IT,WHOEVER WORKED ON IT B4 DIDNT HAVE THE SECURED PROPERLY SO IT MOVED AND IM GUESSING IT MUST HAVE JUMPED TIME AND EVENTUALLY MESSED THE RINGS UP... AM I EVEN A LITTLE CORRECT ? EVEN WITH THE CAMS OUT THE MOTOR WILL ROTATE 95 BPERCENT OF THE WAY AROUND THEN BINDS UP, . ONE POSSIBILITY IS THE vaulve shims on the intake  could be switched   i do not understand why it still binds up even when the cams are not in... any ideas or diagrams would help so much thx

If it binds up without any cams in it, its either going to be your cylinder or the crank.  You can try removing the jug and spinning it.  If it rotates with no issue than its the cylinder.  If it still binds up, its a crank/crank bearing issue.  At this point, unless your getting hooked up with machining, id be looking for a new used motor.

its stoping 95% rotation with cams out after valve lash work?  take a close look at the valve stem height (with buckets removed and cams still out) my guess is you have a valve that has either broken off a valve or bent one badly.  pull the carbs and exhaust and have a peek in the ports. you might be able to see something that way.   This is my opinion only, when i have an engine that does what you discribed. things come apart till i find the cause.  meaning i pull the head(gasket and Orings are reuseable if careful), if i find nothing there, the side covers come off (gonna need new gaskets 99% of the time) but thats me
