First accident FU!!!!!

Yup. Had my first accident. Was stopped at a roundabout waiting for an opening and was slammed into from behind at about 40-45kph.

A bit shaken up but mostly ok, I just wanna know what hidden problems this could do to my bike. I can see the obvious damage; cracked fairing, ripped out the bar end, nearly tore my muffler off, broken mirror ect.

But im worried about shock damage or swingarm damage. Im taking the bike to the stealership but I havnt been there before so cant really vouch for their competency.

THEY hit you so aren't they liable?
By your description, it might be the bike is totaled and they owe you a new bike.
Important to see if the main frame is bent or twisted in any way. If so, demand a new bike. Bent frame is enough to call it totaled.
More details, please. Is there a police report? Was the other driver ticketed?

Thanks for the replys guys. Driver wasnt ticketed and I managed to ride it slowly home. Took it for another spin today to get a feel of anything off. Wasnt crabbing and suspension felt the same. Back wheel is creaking as it spins tho. I had it up on the center stand and was spinning the wheel to see for any deformation and it was making loud creaks. Maybe a dead bearing?

I actually think I/the bike did more damage to her car.

Cant tell if the frame is bent without taking the fairings off so ill leave it to the mechs tomorrow.

That's about 30mph, if a vehicle hit your bike while stationary from behind at that speed it will be a total wreck!!

Unless it's obvious you ain't telling if the frame is bent. You need to get it into the hands of a mechanic who can properly test for bent frame.

Fairing damage alone can be expensive and the stock muffler is pricey (more than double a full aftermarket exhaust); so depending on the age/value of the bike, that might be enough that it's totaled (i.e. repairs cost more than it's worth).

Personal experience here:  People (who cause minor damage to someone's motorcycle) think that the damage can't be that much.  Rather just pay out of pocket than file insurance claim then pay higher premiums.  Then you give them the actual estimate from a dealer and they freak out.  Then they start looking at the situation from a defensive position.  Then they realize they can't afford $1000+, so would have to file a claim.  Even if they file a claim, insurance may not pay because there is no police report.  I hope for the best for you, but without a police report, I'm afraid you are screwed.  Glad you are not hurt though.

If you were hit from behind at an entry the other driver really has no excuse so long as you didn't do something like pass them then slam on the brakes.

If you're trying to settle it outside of insurance try to get everything through as fast as possible. The longer you wait the less likely they'll be willing to pay. Hopefully you took pictures? Are you able to pull up the police report yet?

From experience:  Never ....ever... repeat....never .....ever leave an accident scene without getting the police to make a report.  This is even if you think it might be your fault.  It doesn't matter what they promise at the time....people seem to have a very short memory when it's going to cost them money.

I've seen this story so many times, car driver sees bike is ridable, figures its going to cost them couple of hundred, says they'll pay. Rider doesn't get cops involved, later driver sees repairs quote and has sudden untreatable memory loss regarding their promise and whose fault it really was.

check the wheel. count on replacement, the swingarm, the pivot bolt, the axle, the frame, the subframe,  the electrics etc. im assuming theyre at fault, so take it to a stealership, you may end up with a new bike lol. 45kph is pretty significant stuff gets bent or broken at speeds less than that. BUT am glad youre okay my friend. I was backed into by a produce truck who was wanting to talk to car in oncoming lane lol. slowest crash ever. and it destroyed my headlight. this was maybe 2mph? so that speed of yours, bike needs work. rest up, get checked out yourself as well. and PLEASE update us Eh?

Cool. however look at it this way. if a write-off, it ruins its title. get the most you can. then you might be able to find another one. OR you can press for a reduced value check as well. even if restored to 100%, still worth less than a non totaled gs. you've got a few options my friend. but first and foremost. you've survived relatively intact. have an estimate also at a suzi dealer. a DETAILED estimate. can do a buyback from insurance, and use the money and do repairs yourself. using factory parts if desired ( notice you mention this) cards are on the table. you've got some options Eh? pics? , I wish you the best.

Judging by these responses I take it that you left the accident scene without getting the police to make a report? Have you considered the possibility that a driver can go to the station and say you went in front, slammed the brakes, and that you rode off?

If the driver refuses to pay, changes story, etc. you pretty much brought it on yourself. Too many people go frolicking around on the street without the right mindset and skills to deal with the dark side of motorcycle riding.
