I've needed a new battery for some time now. In all my looking around, i've only been able to find OEM replacements. What I would want is a sealed jell battery or something else with more cold cranking amps (I ride through the winter in MT) if one exists for the GS.

Does anyone have any idea where one could find such a thing?

I'm on my 2nd Scorpion AGM battery now and ride year around here in NE OH.  Winter starting better than conventional lead/acid batteries, life about the same, good price for an AGM sealed battery.

Bike master sealed gel battery, has been the bets battery I've used on a bike.

I bought one of these about 8 months ago... had it on a battery tender when it got cold.  Tried to start it up about a month ago when temps got above 30F, and it wouldn't even click over.  Plugged it back into my charger thinking I hadn't connected it all the way or something and now it was just too low... and then I noticed the tender was flashing.  Voltmeter showed 1.2V, took it to autozone and it failed load test big time.  Ended up getting a partial reimbursement for the battery, and went with a motobatt.  Could have been a lemon or possibly my own unwitting negligence  :dunno_black: but figured I'd give motobatt a chance for the $8 more it cost than the bike master, and it has some of this community's backing... We will see, but so far so good.

I bought a Duraboost CB10L-B2 battery from the local Cyclegear  for $47, 3 months ago. The last 2 weeks it doesn't seem to hold a full charge. Without the battery tender on it it drops about 1/2 volt a day, down to about 11.6v after 3 days. I'm going to have it load tested today and if it fails I'll return it and get back whatever refund I can. After reading literally hundreds of posts here, I think I'm going to go with a Scorpion YT10L-A2:

I really don't like that it says "Made in China", but I've read a lot of good reviews. At $54 shipped, I think I can take the chance!

Thanks all for the Info.

I'm going to go the BikeMaster TruGel here:

I've heard nothing but good things about sealed gel batteries from my KLR and BMW friends. Just needed help finding one!

+1 on the Scorpion AGM battery. I got one two years ago and never had any problems. I was expecting some issues with all the cold weather we've had... 3-9 degrees F at night for weeks now. I went over to the garage to charge it after ignoring it for a few weeks... and the charger light went green right away. I was pleasantly surprised.
