Are the stock exhaust header brackets removable?

I got the exhaust off the bike, stripped, and ready to paint, but the flange/brackets that bolt into the head don't seem to come off. It would be alot easier to paint with them off. Any chance the flange is just stuck on, or do I have to paint around them? Any tips for getting good coverage with them in place?

No, the flanges aren't removable.

I let them sit against the H pipe and painted above them, then turned the whole thing over and moved them to the end of the pipes and painted the rest.
