Alright so many of you have probably seen my post on needing a new relay. Well this was the new relay I ordered a while back. Upon hooking it to the battery this relay does nothing. Doesnt even carry 12v through the system. I cant even get the plug in the right spot. The bike wont crank or anything. (The second two pics are of the current relay)Yet this is how my old relay looks and it worked fine up until saturday. (Disregard the busted metal. Theres a 20a fuse across the two pieces now so I have power) Whats so different and why wont my bike accept the new relay?

You didn't blow the main fuse while changing the relay? . .... earth problem with relay. Either it is unearthed and shouldn't be or vice versa?

The two large screw terminals: you could have connected them in reverse.
One comes from the battery and also goes to the fuse to provide power to the bike. The other goes to the starter relay. Reverse them and the bike won't ever get power.

The two spade terminals are from the starter button.

I bought a relay from ebay recently and the connector was made wrong. There's a B and a M marking on the connector which holds the fuse, the lines out/in to/from the ignition switch and starter button, and ground for relay circuit. The B is supposed to have continuity with Positive lug from battery. It doesn't. If you hook it up with the cables to/from starter/battery the same way they came off the old unit (2000 gs500e), you'll get the condition described above. Its not your fault. I didn't try reversing the cables but it should work.

I know it's an old thread but watch out for:

Especially if you need to replace your connector/fuse holder. Its not hard to swap your old connector onto the new relay coil.
