GS seat padding? Whats in there?

I'm not going to use my seat, building a new one. Anyone ever torn one up who can tell me what the padding is like in there?

I don't know if I should sell the seat or try and use the padding from it to build a new one.
The new one will be straight, so I was kinda concerned about the slope of a stock GS seat.

The stock seats are really comfortable, in my opinion, so IF I can use that padding I would like to.

I took the cover off mine to recover in leather. Theres nothing real special in there just a piece of thin foam cut to shape, then a few other bits of foam underneath that.

If it was me I'd just get some new foam.

I am rebuilding a seat for mine as well, and found that for me at least, I am using two densities of foam. I am making the first layer out of a 1/2" medium density carpet pad type. The second layer is a softer 1" seat cushion density foam. I notice that once you wrap both tightly they form a nice firm but comfortable pad. I am wrapping mine in black marine vinyl, pre-stretched with a heat gun. I tested it on my old seat and it really works well, but the vinyl will need a restretch next season after it all settles out.

Man! I can't believe there is so little in there! I really think these stock seats are comfy.
Soloratov, where are you getting your pads?

Soloratov

I am just getting a scrap carpet pad from the local carpet place, but you can get the softer padding from any place like Michaels or Joanne Fabrics.
