cant speak for newer models but the early model GS was around 37hp, some of our brothers over in the UK complained about having/needing restrictors in the carbs to lower the HP to like 33hp due to license restrictions. being as most laws that govern engine size on highway/roadways go off of manufacture specs, i imagine its at the crank.

Looks like the GS puts out 38.1rwhp. Better than the DR650.
