Anyone remove the gas tank "suzuki" sticker?

I want to remove the sticker in favor of having a plain gas tank, but it looks like it was clear coated over? (i could be wrong) can anyone give me advice on what to do here.

I don't think he stickers are clear coated over rather baked on from the sun , the paint under us going I be different

mine is clear coated over on my 98. the reason i know it is, is the fact i buffed out all the scratches on the tank. if it wouldnt of been cleared over the sticker would of melted off when using a wool buffing pad.

hm.. interesting point about the paint being a different color underneath. there's got to be something i can do about it. i'm going for a strict color scheme on the bike and the grey is just throwing everything off.

The manufacturer clearcoats decals on the gas tank to protect the decals in case the owner spills gas when filling gas tank. I have never seen a motorcycle that was not like this.

could of been a respray. if they arent cleared you can use this! http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MMM0/07498.oap?keyword=7498. but be careful! too fast and too much pressure will cause it to damage the paint. light and med speed on the drill should be fine.


then buff the tank with just a foam pad and some 3m swirl mark remover and then go over with either another clean foam pad using the wax of your choice or hand waxing.
