Having problems with new relay and led signals

I just installed a china made relay and installed led signals they are flashing as emergency signals and the indicator light isn't flashing at all. Any ideas why this is?

The way the bike is wired from the factory; the L_turn and R_turn (out of the switch) are not only wired to the respective signals, but also to either side of the turn indicator bulb.  So in essence with the (low current draw) LEDs your turn indicator bulb is acting as a short causing all the signals to flash.  You could take out the turn indicator bulb or do a diode modification to the turn indicator bulb socket (in this case the indocator still works).  Simply cut both wires for the turn indicator, splice one to the B/W wire (high indicator), and solder a diode on each of the 2 wires from the harness and the out of both diodes to the free wire for the bulb socket.

I thought putting the different relay in solved that issue. But just to make sure not only do you have to change relay but you have to unhook the indicator light?

The LED compatible relay is to take care of hyperflashing issues; the 4-way flashing is a different issue altogether.  If you were to put the stock relay in you'd have super-fast 4-ways.

Pulled indicator bulb now they aren't flashing just solid if use left signal left ones are solid if I use right they are solid

If I put stock relay in id have no flashing only time you have fast flashing is if either front or back is led and other is stock....

What are the specs on your LEDs?

The page you have on the relay doesn't show it's current rating either.

I'm thinking  prolly need a diff relay that was only 4 bucks so I wasn't very confident in it from the beginning

So in theory if I buy that take indicator light out I should be good?

Yes that should work; I can't remember if I tested that relay with LED signals prior to the diode mod and LED indicator, but it may work with the stock turn indicator wiring as well.

I'm gonna mess around with it a little more before I order anything else it frustrated me so I quit messing with it for now. If anyone has any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Get something like these, they work great. For 10 dollars don't bother messing around with diodes and what not.

Had same issues as you, swapped all 4 flashers with LED ones. plug those inline with stock relay works great.

I've seen them on ebay too.

If you want to use LEDs in the cluster, then you have to do the diode mod for the turn indicator.

The stock Turn Signal Relay (TSR) is set up for a specific power draw through it; with a different power load it flashes at a different rate.  So when using power resistors in parallel with the LED signals, you have to be sure the total load is the same as with the stock tungsten bulbs.  I had initially tried to get mine working with some power4 resistors I had on hand and it didn't want to work right.  I found it easier (and cheaper) to buy a universal TSR that to get a set of resistors which may or may not work.

Anyone else have any opinions why all four are flashing?

The turn indicator connects the left side to the right side. LEDs use so little current that what goes through the indicator will fire LEDs on both sides.

You MUST do the dual diode mod to the turn indicator to isolate the left side from the right side. You might get away with replacing the indicator with a non-polarized LED, but the most reliable way is get 2 cheap diodes from Radio Shack for a buck (1N4001 or better.)

Is the only way to solder them? I have no experience doing that
