Does anybody have experience with Adventure Power (UPG) batteries? I came across them while a-Googling AGM batts.

A CS rep from wholsalebatteries.com told me that this one should work for 01-09 (after I specifically stated the year doesn't matter for GS500s):

Never heard of that brand...probably some generic battery made in China that some company has their Brand stamped on.    Doesn't mean it is not good, doesn't mean it is good.

Price is on the low side for AGM.  Again, price may or may not indicate quality.

AGM in general seems like a good idea...what I like is there are no vent caps, and no over flow hose to worry about...supposedly leak proof...can be mounted sideways if needed, etc...

I went with Motto Batt.....couldn't say why one is better than the other...but Motto Batt has mulit terminals..so you can be sure the battery will fit without having to lay it on its side, or having to cram it in backwards and hope that the wires reach the terminals.  (for instance the AGM from Wal Mart has to be put in backward to work.)

Also, Moto Batt is YELLOW.....yellow battery just has to be better than black battery ???

Many seem to like the Scorpion AGM....cheaper price than Moto Batt....

Again, hard to tell if there is any actual tangible difference in brands...

I'm wondering if UPG isn't the company that makes all of the cheap batteries. The are a few brands including Scorpion that I find suspiciously similar. The Adventure Power seems to vary in price about $20 depending on where you go.

The size is right and the poles are in the correct spot on this one. My current Parts Unl. conventional batt seems like it hasn't come through winter with quite the spark it hard before I brought it inside for a while. It may just need a deep charge. I dunno.

Maybe I'm biased from always having been around sealed batts in my autos, but a cheap sealed AGM seems better than non-cheap conventional, so long it's not leaky or otherwise dangerous.

As it stands I'm leaning toward giving it a shot. If Duralast batteries can be worth a darn, I don't see why these can't.

Back in the day, a "Brand Name" meant that company actually made the product, and built their reputation on the products they manufactured.  Generally if they made one great product, you could be assured their other products were also good.

Nowadays there are so many "brands" with meaningless names.  Most products are actually built by contract factories in China, Vietnam, etc.  So many different "brands" may end up being the exact same part!  But on the other hand, some are made to look alike, yet vary in quality and specification.  Then their are out-right reverse engineered copy-cat parts.  But even these so called knock offs can be high quality... or not.

Bottom line...you take your chances.....

Looks like that battery would work well...and probably last....
