the rider pegs on the brides 08 gs500f have no return spring on them. If she catches her leg on them they stay up...big pain in the ass.....has anyone had this issue or is there another type of peg I can install that has the return feature.
thanks Ed

Never had any issues with the stock pegs or getting a leg caught on them.  In a way the flip up feature is nice when moving the bike around as it isn't as wide at the bottom (great for getting past cars).

When you say the rider, I'm confused as to if you are referring the the passenger or the driver, If you are referring to the passenger foot pegs, I can confirm that the 04 ' dose not have return springs....This would be annoying for a solo rider. If you are referring to the driver set there should be springs. If not you can order new foot pegs from the link below or eBay

If you do not want them to go up, mount them upside down. Then they will be down and never go up.
Or just drill an extra hole and stick a bolt in them so they can't move.

...or get a girlfriend with better muscular control of her feet and legs....or is wise enough to know how to put down a passenger peg.

Also, just checked the front pegs only go up to a 45 degree angle; so if they come up while riding you can always kick them back down.

OK, I see you mention rider pegs. I thought passenger.
Rider pegs have a square steel washer. That and the rubber of the peg act like a spring so the pegs stay down.
Often if the pegs were removed, the square washer gets lost.
