Is this any surprise?  We, as in the western world, have messed with them economically.  Then the IMF comes in and throws money at them to prop them up with strings attached that further weaken them.  Usher in Putin.  The savior.

When times are bad countries are ripe for bad leaders.  We destroyed Germany's economy after WW1, and what did we get?  You see where I am going with this.

Putin has become a major player on the world stage and brought Russia back to relevance.
