Stupid truck decides to loose its transmission  :technical: ( no the 4wheelin that it was involved in had nothing to do with it) so now the rest of the week I'm biking it in the rain.  :2guns:

My real issue with riding in the wetness, aside from the dumb asses that don't know how to drive in dry conditions, is the cold rain that seems to find its way past the gear and makes the ride cold and miserable

I fell ya. I've been caught in the rain a couple of times and no matter what you're wearing you're going to get wet. Hang in there and ride well.

My first time caught in the rain was coming home from work one day.  It was beautiful in the morning, but towards the evening the forecast changed.

My boss let me leave about 20 minutes early so I could try and beat the storm home.  Well, I get half a mile down the road and it starts drizzling, get on the expressway and it's pouring.  I was thinking of stopping under the next overpass, but by the time I got there I felt like I wasn't going to get any wetter and all I could see 360° was grey clouds.

As soon as I am getting off the expressway the storm breaks, and by the time I get to my subdivision the sun is shining, kids are out playing, dogs barking, people cutting the grass...  The ground wasn't even wet.

I walk in the door dripping and my sister goes "What the hell happened to you!?"  I say "Didn't a big ass storm just roll through here?"  "No," she says...
Then my boss calls me, the storm passed through his area like a wanted criminal!  If I would have stayed in work until the usual clock-out time the storm would have passed over and I would have ridden home on wet pavement but wouldn't be soaked through!   :flipoff:

At least my jacket was waterproof enough to keep my $$ and phone dry.

I also learned that if your boots are waterproof, make sure your pants are too!  Water gets in your boots from your shins and turns your boots into little bitty swimming pools for your feet...

Family gave me a DriRider hurricane storm suit for birthday this year.... Tested it out last week with extremely heavy rain!!! ... Boots damp, gloves damp, drips into helmet ..... Inside the suit ... NOTHING!! ...  :thumb:

Cos I'm a big lad I got a 5xl .. Which goes right over my normal riding jackets and pants also... Longer legs on the suit too.. So you sit down on seat and still have plenty of room and it doesn't ride up your calf... .. The suits go to 6xl in Aussieland...

Never had a proper rain suit before ... Well had a ALDI $30 'special' .. Which wasn't big enough and leaked anyway..

If you have the cash available in your future .. Get one of these suits!! ... I'm not so much a 'dri rider' groupie ... I am a fan of these hurricane suits though!! ... It was fair dinkum PISSIN down!!! ... I took a video while riding .. Which I will edit and put up for a review ...

Always heard on the grapevine 'this gear leaks' or 'that suit was so-so' ... But despite it being my first real rain suit... I don't hesitate to give it Two Thumbs Up!!  :thumb:  :thumb:

I thank the military for my riding gear  ;)
cold weather and rain gear I have is awesome.
poor mans waterproofing on boots is petroleum jelly ( vasoline ) on leather boots, and the back of my gloves helps out a lot

iindeed. a lot of my gear was surplus. and I second the Vaseline trick. plus in cold weather, stuff jacked with either newspaper or a trashbag/s works for warmth

Lucky for me my boots are goretex, but I used to work in MilSurp and a lot of the shoe-care products there are awesome!

Actually, I should stop back in and get one of the high-viz PVC rain suits they have.  Bibs and jacket, sized to go over my gear, and just keep it in a tail bag for emergencies.  They're cheap enough, even if I don't talk to my former employer and sang a discount...
