Green cap would look blue with a blue LED under it when on. The colored caps are not a perfect color filter.
We don't have bike inspections here in WA so not sure what your inspectors really expect to see.

probably a silly question but where do I get these caps you speak of?

I have a box with some green, red and amber. No blue's.

i think the main thing is to have the thing covered with something... anything see through.. for the inspector.... they dont like bare bulbs...

after that its just style to suit yourself!
