So I went to the shop today and the owner told me he was going to over charge me for putting a tire on seeing I went little bigger than OEM.... so I bought a 150/70zr17 contimotion tire hearing that it would fit could anyone here help me plz

From what I understand ... Mainly from gsJacks postings  :thumb: ... 150 can be used ... You 'may' have to bend the brake bar on the right side just a teensy bit though ... So the tyre doesn't scrub on it?

Monster

bending the torque arm is a maybe though? and if so is that a bad idea or hard to do?

For that info I'd search the threads about tyres in 150 size....

Iirc it isn't hard ... With the right tools etc

140 size definitely requires no mods though.... Your tyre not available in a 140 at all?

The 150/70 tires run on a stock 3.5" wheel will come close to the brake brace just clearing or maybe just touching it a bit.  I ran a 150/70 Lasertec and it just cleared and later a 150/70 RoadAttack I ran rubbed the brace.  I ran it about 1k miles that way and then took it off and bent it.  After that the 150/70 Roadrider and 150/60 Shinko tires I ran had plenty of cleareance.

I just took the brake brace off and laid it across a piece of 2x4 and hit it a few wacks with a BFH right on the mark left by the rubbing tire.  Quick and easy and I now can run any 150 tire.   :thumb:

I just installed a set of Sport Demons and put a 140 on the rear, I was just glad the rear hugger still fits.  I only have ~500kms on them but so far so good.  People here seem to love them so I gave them a shot.

Nice tire There you have! quick question how close is the 140/70/17 coming to your chain and brake torque arm?

gsJack

Pictures I added above shows chain clearance with 150 tires.

Thanks.  I have plenty of clearance with my 140.  All my research came from Jacks many tire threads, so heed his advice  :)
