Trying to synch carbs - turning clockwise opens the right carb butterfly and turning counterclockwise opens the left?  Or am I backwards?

I hooked up a 2' hose and tried to simple synch method, but my right carb SUCKED the oil up right away...hmmm...

Also, my right carb is richer than left - so I turn the screw counterclockwise to have more of the left carb opened, right?  When I do this the revs go up and the idle screw seems to not help.

It's still morning here and I'll go out in a bit to take a look - but seems all I need is a carb synch and maybe a little jetting tweaks to smoth things out...

It really helps to have the aquarium valve between the two legs, so you can introduce a controlled leak across and adjust the sensitivity. With the valve full open, the vacuum equalizes completely between the two legs, and you have zero sensitivity. Closing it partially increases the sensitivity.

If the carbs aren't real close without something to turn down the sensitivity, they will suck up all the oil/water as you have found out.

I never really think about which way to turn the screw, just try one way then other 'till the balance gets better.
