Hey every one , I just picked up my first GS an 89 with 4k miles. She sat neglected for about 12 years in my Buddy's garage ,his brother owned it and dumped it doing wheelies to impress some girls, and then it sat cause he was afraid of it  .
Anyway back history of the 89 ,sat 12 years i took it off his hands for 300 bux . Discovered the full tank of gas had migrated into the crankcase, carbs were shot, starter motor was shot , starter clutch seized to the crank ( hence the starters centrifugal dance to death),right cylinders piston rings seized to the piston ( explains why my compression test was mid 80s psi and the left side was 160ish )

Replaced rt cylinder piston , new oem Suzuki rings for both , had jug honed ,fixed the starter clutch , awaiting on my new starter motor to come in . I haven't split the case to inspect the tranny cause its got 4k miles ,the friction plates and steels were perfect ...
Since the day i wheeled her from my Buddy's garage i noticed it will not shift from neutral to any gear , my buddy pushed me down the street and as many times as i tried, wouldn't shift to anything.. i re adjusted the clutch how the FSM says , still same issue ,rolling forward or backwards makes no difference .... I'm really hoping ya guys might have a idea because I'm out of them  :dunno_black:

If it was dropped on the left side, the shifter shaft could be slightly bent and putting pressure on the sprocket cover.

With the engine off, you should be able to just rock the bike back and forth and shift into 1st or 2nd gear (even without using the clutch).

It's opener there in the wide open air...
