OK so I blew my engine in my gs and replaced it and come to find out the engine is salvageable the connector rod shattered but the whole top and seems in good shape, ANYWAYS I'm letting my friend have the engine but it wont be worth the time and money unless someone has a rolling chassis or a gs with a blown engine cause piece by piece it'll cost more than a new gs so if anyone is selling one please let me know! thanks -Will  :thumb:

You can put any GS500 engine into any frame. So the 2009 would be a good deal.
Only difference is tank, seat, tail light and plastics. They run 1989-2000  then  change for 2001+
Pretty much all other parts are the same. I know. We've built 3 bikes from spare parts here in West Seattle. They all have an assortment of parts from 1989 through 2012!

this forum is a pain to log into for each post.  The letters are hard to read, and the questions do not specify answers in numbers or spelled out numbers.

Tom, those questions and post verifications stop after your fourth post. It is added measure against spam. This forum's site owner does a great job at keeping spam out.  I remember having similar troubles through those first few posts as well, and I can empathize with your concern. It does help you power through them once you understand the reasons. Spam can break a forum, and I've seen it happen elsewhere, so I do believe the measures taken are necessary... Though, it seems it could be made more clear how to crack the code to begin posting here.
