Hey everyone,

Nice to e-meet you all! I'm Dave, 24, living in San Diego.

I recently bought a 2004 GS500F with 250 miles on it  :woohoo: (Guy got it for his GF, she dropped it, got scared and parked it) - - He actually may be on these forums. Anyways, this is my first bike so I am still casually riding it around town getting used to it. Took the MSF course 2-3 weekends ago and decided I wanted a 500cc bike instead of 250cc.

I work for a software company so I am a bit of a tech nerd  :technical:, hence my greeting but also enjoy sports and traveling (which I plan to see a lot of the area on my new bike!)

Are there any other riders on here from San Diego? Would love to meet up with some others to ride and see some cool sites (just don't expect to much from me yet)

Hey sorry Gorilla, just saw this! Haven't found any other GS500 riders.. although one is parked a couple blocks up (just haven't seen the owner yet) but got extremely lucky because my neighbor has been riding and working on bikes for like 40 years so he has been helping me out a ton with riding techniques, tips and bike work.... We did a couple little modifications like LED front and rear turn signals (the pic was only when i had the front done), shaved off the bike license plate area and put on some handlebar mirrors that flip in, because here in California you can lane split (I only do it when stopped at a traffic light though). Thinking about one last modification with a new windshield, but that is still up in the air.

Hey Ken,

Nice to meet you also. Where in Nor Cal?

Actually might be looking to make a long trip up the PCH after the end of the quarter for work! Recommendations up north are always welcome :)

I'm in Pittsburg lil town, not up in the mountain but if you do want to take a good cruise, there are three routes I go from my house. one going up to lake Barryessa, or to Loon lake, I also like to shoot up towards Eureka.
Loads of scenic routes going to either one. If you hit the coast from S.D. a good run would be going up to Eureka, there are a few rivers that are great to cruise along.

This is great. I'll definitely save this and I might message you for any other recommended stops along the trip. I don't really venture outside of San Diego so truthfully have no idea what is worth seeing.

I have heard some great things about Half Moon Bay.. ocean breeze and bikinis? Added to the route.

It's quite the ride from you but it should be a great one. On your way up you'll pass San Luis Obispo.
If you like a good beer check out spikes pub there. I stop there when ever I'm in town, mainly ca micro brews, it's a awesome place jus to take a breather and soak in the atmosphere. There are do many little pit stops on your route up to halfmoon it'll be worth it.

There is no excuse for what I'm about to do
