If anyone wants higher resolution copies of those pics I posted, please pm me.

It was a long day, but it really felt like one of those days where Patrick and I finished wrenching on something and decided to hit up the island for a nice afternoon ride. He was with me, guys. And I know he misses us just as much...

Words escape me! I am incredibly sadden by this. I was about to put the custom exhaust piece on Flick that he "made" for me. No he didn't buy it he had it made for me. He would never charge me for the many many parts he gave me. The LED lights , the brake fluid resevoir, the custom chain guard, and the heel guards! So, much he did for me. He was supposed to come down to Orlando next month and we were going to hang out for the weekend he was going to rent a bike and we were going to ride.

The last time he came to Orlando I took him to everyone of the Adidas outlets here about 7 stores! At the last one he told me to pick out a pair of shoes since I needed a new pair for work. I went for the cheapest ones but he wouldn't let me get those. "Get the ones you need" he said $85 later I had a great pair of work shoes. What I didn't know and didn't find out until he had left is he put a hundred dollar bill in one of the shoes as a thank you for the escort. That help me get my medication for my heart that month. I feel like such a jerk for not being on here more and taking this long to find out that one of my good friends is gone. Tears are rolling as I write this. I didn't wear these shoes as often as they are now a couple of years old they typically reside in the back of the car as back ups but for some reason I got them out today and put them on to work on Flick.

Patrick (Addy) may you be riding those twisty streets of gold and wearing those nice tight Addias jeans that you loved (and I loved watching you in)!

I'm going to take my chain guard and heel guards off of Flick and have them powder coated. Does anyone know what his favorite color was? I think if it will work with Flick I will make them that color. Also, does anyone know what noble steed (bike) he was one when the accident occurred Suzi, Jr, Trey?

You will never be forgotten.

Mary I pmed you this bechause I didn't want you finding out like I did. I knew you all were close. like we were. I loved the guy. we talked often. I treasured every minute of it. I never had a bad moment with him. EVER. always looked forward to talking with him. last we talked was when he posted the yamahonkawazuki pic lol. 2 days previous. which was 2 days after my surgery. I was told after I asked for an explanation of one of the RIP threads I had seen. I found out in the hospital lobby. waiting for bus to house. now im not sure of his favourite colour.  although, he did recently  complete the UW bike. whos colours were white and purple. granted flick is blue and white. but hey. id put a purple piece on a blue bike to just get conversations started :). and explain the need for proper fitting gear .,  Patrick would take time out of his day to let folks know the necessity of properly fitting gear.

Yeah, I was just discussing that even if it were lime green and someone asked then I could tell them of my friend that I lost and how important it is for people to pay attention when driving. Everyone seems to be so wrapped up in their phone etc while driving that they just don't notice! I posted a photo of a woman sitting at a red light facing the wrong way and she just couldn't figure out why the light wouldn't turn for her.As I came through the intersection I almost hit her head on because the last thing your expecting is a car just sitting in the wrong lane!

Oh well, no rant here. I do have another question about the accident. From looking at the photos I have to wonder why Addy didn't try to bail off to the right side. I know here in K-town due to the above mentioned I am very vigilant about my 6. So, I wonder if maybe he was focused on making that left and failed to notice the quickly approaching vehicle. She is still in the wrong I believe (well she was definitely speeding) but if we can learn something from this at least his death would not be in vain.

I'm wondering this too. I stopped by his house today, I dont know, just because and I took a peek in the bike cave. In there I saw Huhsky, Junior, Phenix, Susie, ex500 and the TS.

What bike is missing?

All assumption here, but if you look at the pic showing my bike from behind and facing oncoming traffic, you'll see a very blind corner where you will only have a few seconds to cross the center lines and turn left before you see an approaching vehicle. When I was there, that was my main focus as I took the exact path and stopped to take the same left as Patrick.

Plus, from the recounts I heard while there, the driver showed like she was going to pass on his right on the shoulder. Maybe he noticed this and focused on oncoming. Maybe there was too much oncoming and someone barreling down on your 6, where do you go?

The last time I saw him in person is when we were making the Yamahahonkawazuki and taking the picture... He had always wanted to get one of those ever since I got a Honda... I'm still as awestruck as day one.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Yeah I would have to assume it was his new DL...
I can't help but tear up when I read through these threads, and I never even met him. I guess that's just the kind of guy he was though, had an affect on anyone he reached out to.

Just spent the day on Vashon.  It was very moving to see his photo and be in that place.  I cannot understand how the accident happened.  The speed limit on the island is slow.  I counted a few cars on the time traveled from the corner to the winery and they clocked 8 seconds.  How someone can't see, avoid, stop, etc .. In that amount of time is beyond me.  We spent a pretty amazing 20 minutes saying goodbye, leaving flowers and memories.  We even got a little rainbow on the way back across the water.

From the West Seattle blog:

"Since Patrick's FB page has been taken down, and FB won't let me reply to private messages, I suspect this is the Patrick Lajko I met so long ago.

He was sent to the 1977 Wrld Science Fiction Convention, that year in Miami. He was garbed as Luke Skywalker – you can see his picture in Starlog's No. 11 issue. Mine, too, with a Wookiee.

We met up waiting for our turn in the Masquerade (costume contest.) I was dressed as Princess Leia. Only one of our friends knew we'd be teaming up, one of his buddies who was in the photographer pool. We kept being pushed back, to be the "grand finale," I guess.

We stepped out to cheers, since the first "Star Wars" movie had debuted that year and still was in theaters. We did a short presentation, including a kiss that brought more cheers, and walked off with "Best Re-Creation" and, the equivalent of best in show, we think, "Judges' Choice."

We never met again, but recently I found someone's pictures of us during that memorable event, and made sure he got a copy. During one memorable event so many years ago, he and I were "stars."

If this is, indeed, my Jedi Knight partner, then I send my love and aloha and sympathies to his friends, family and coworkers."
