 Just picked up 94 gs500 , with some issue but for $350 couldnt say no .   I used to have one years back and was fond of it .  I am also am avid trackday Junkie have  a few other bikes  . I'm currently building a new motor for 1000rr , along adding a ohlins rear shock and traxxion ak 20 cartridge up front .
I ended up getting this  gs  because I'm incapable of being responsible on the street with more the 50 hp . I look foward to contributing and learning from the board !

Welcome to se nuthaus. Takes a big man/woman to state their limits. A gs in the hands of an excellent rider at times can out corner a litrebike. Cause youre in the power almost constantly

One  of my fears is this will turn into track bike # 3 filling the  niche bellow my gsxr600 .

Nothing wrong there, ive seen as has john and others  here over a decades time make a ride to, at, home from a track bike. You seem to know your limits so far. And as long as you know the limits of both you and your ride, I think youll do fine.

He tracked his GS500, although a with some mods, and achieved great corner speed with that.
Currently I have no GS500, had two of those, now I have an SRAD that does track and street, but still come to this forum as people around here are really cool!

Buddha and john knows of the guy, im searching the archives, he took tracking a gs to a whole new level. Took the innter two cylinders of a gsxr 600. And iirc a gs lower. Was trying to talk patrick :"( into doing something similar. But he was a practical guy. Wild things were a rarity.

Dont think i'd go to that extent ,  inverted forks - sure , better rear shock - yup ,  and maybe a swingarm if i got a deal i couldn't say no too.

Yeah, he went with GSXR600 forks and other bits...I think you can use a R6 shock too, but I bet you've already researched about that.
I remember Burning1 was struggling with the bike not being competitive in the class he was racing, yes, he was racing with the thing. So he might exaggerated in his mods...

I remember that Patrick once said, "Something that needs a steering damper, has geometry issues!". I think that quote shows that track riding wasn't much his thing!

Thats a acurate statement , most if not all head shake is cause by poor suspension  geometry.  I "knock on wood" have never had my rr shake , I yanked the Electronic HESD of in favor the a GPR as the hesd was to stiff and made turn in a struggle .
