Like most folks, I wanted a way to get the attention of drivers behind me and get them to look away from their cellphones.  The only issue I had with all the other flashers is they require the brake to be applied before they start flashing so when you downshift and engine brake, there is nothing warning the people behind you that your slowing down.

The Vololight uses accelerometers in the unit to detect engine or hydraulic braking and flashes accordingly.  The other neat thing is that the faster I slow down, the faster the light blinks, so sudden or panic braking and the unit really lights up.
