Guy has this bike listed as a 92 Suzuki 500cc Bandit.

Is it a GS500E or is this a different bike?

Just curious.....I had never heard the GS called a Bandit.

it's a good old GS500e. If it's really in a condition he says, $1300 is a great price.  :thumb:

There was a Bandit 600 and a Bandit 400 back in the early 90s.

Many similar parts, but the Bandits had a frame more similar to the 1st Gen sv650. The 600 was a 4 cylinder and the engine and exhaust headers were different in the 400 than the gs500.

That is definitely a gs500e in the CL ad.

That guy doesn't know what he has.  The Bandits were tube framed and IIRC they are all 4 cylinders.

Still, this guy is not as extreme as this ad:

I typed 'Suzuki gs500' and one of the results was the one above. Check out the bottom section of his ad:

==============================================================
cb 750, cb750, cafe racer, honda, motorcycle, supersport, stafford cycles, cj's garage,
cb500, cb350, cb360, cb550, kz1000, kz400, xs650, yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki, gs500, motorbike, 69-78,
gl550, triumph, norton, BSA, triton, commando, thruxton, speed triple, cbr, daytona, avon, ace cafe,
do the ton, bonneville t100, clubman, all the brakes you can grab, 600rr, 1000rr, r1, r6, gsxr, motorbike
==============================================================

He really wanted to come up in every possible search. The funniest are: 'all the brakes you can grab' and 'do the ton'  :bowdown:

i do that on all my craigslist ads. you get more views and someone who might of not been looking for what you have for sale might end up buying it.

It's a smart selling move to tag it outside of what it is, but annoying as all hell when you are searching for something specific.

If I search for "Buell" I don't want 70% of my results to be Harley Davidsons...

Nor do I want to see Honda CBs coming up when I search for Suzuki GS.

I'd tag "motorcycle" and various engine sizes, but wouldn't tag a different bike all together.

don't mean to high jack this but kinda curious on selling price. I have a 97 GS only 2100 miles. I know they only book for around a grand. what would be a good asking price?

Alan_nc

General rule is:  Ask a couple hundred more than you really want so you can come down some.  Lets you get your price and the buyer feel good that he worked out a discount.

As to asking price.  Well in NC I bought mine for several hundred under the book wholesale price.  Looks very nice, fairly low miles, needed nothing.  It has run great for the 8 months I've had it.  GS isn't very popular here.  There are areas where they sell for retail or above.
