Zombie Toes

Hey everyone.

I got this bike a little over a year ago for free from my cousin. The picture below is in the state I got it in and how it currently looks.

This bike hasn't been on the road in about 3 years or more and hasn't been running in nearly 2 years (when my cousin had it he couldn't get it to run right).

With the weather getting better It's making me want to work on it and get it going. Where should I start? I know that's a very vague thing to ask, but try your best. Money is -extremely- tight right now so try to avoid giving me a list of items to buy.

Where's the rest of the bike? Seat, tank, etc?

First things first, get the bike back to running condition - or at least the motor has potential. No point of working on a motorcycle that can't move under its own power. Get the valve clearances in spec, carbs cleaned, oil & filter changed, etc.

It's opener there in the wide open air...

The tank is on the floor next to it, as is the seat.

I attempted to start it but the batt was dead ( or one of the wires in that mess got disconnected) I've thrown it onto the charger and will try again when I get home from work.

This is how the guy I got the bike from had the petcock setup. The open line went into the carbs, but he has this second line capped of. Doesn't seem like this is how it's suppose to be. Where do I need to route it to?

looks like he was just running the bike from the reserve line all the time. The longer outlet is the reserve line, feeds the back of the petcock, the shorter one is the ON line, and plugs into the front of the petcock.

Seems I got everything wired up aside from lights.

I've been doing some research and am I correct that I should start out trying 150 jets if I'm going to run a lunchbox air filter and cut off exhaust?

Here's a video of it running. Seems a little laggy when I twist the throttle but I'm new to these bikes.
