Small panel on right side handlebar switch assembly?

Hey Guys.

A friend of mine has a nicer suzuki (M49 i think) and I noticed that he has hazards on the right side handle bar switch.

Curiously, I looked on my right side handle bar switch and there is a little panel (that seems to come off) between the Engine stop/run switch and the starter switch.

Has anyone looked into this further? Maybe there's a switch that can be added on?

Here's to hoping.

thanks

If I'm not mistaken, that ons the spot for the European "Headlight on / off" switch.

With all of the road construction we have around here lately,  I'd LOVE to have Hazard Lights !  It would be soooo much nicer than "blipping" the brakes every few seconds as a car approaches.....

Look at the left hand controls for GSXR's - they have a separate hazard button. But obviously nothing for a choke. And I haven't looked at the wiring diagram at all either, so it might not be any use.....

I had mine open awhile back when I did the R6 throttle tube swap... There wasn't any wiring already there to say, 'conveniently' just pop in a switch there - you would have to add wiring to the harness as well.  There are quite a few 'vestigial' holes and appendages on most bikes (and cars too) because manufacturers strategically use some universal parts that work across multiple models.  Most Suzuki's have 7/8'' bars, so its no surprise we would find some of these things on our basic GS500.  F models also have handlebar mirror *mounts* though F model mirrors are on the fairing.
