Ok Gstwin family, I am putting together my first bike (1990 Gs500e) missing plenty of pieces need a speedometer/cluster, found a 1981 Gs750 cluster online for $10. Anyone know if the harnesses will fit? Or will I have some modifications to do?

Big Rich

Almost definitely will need some modifications. The wiring may be very similar, but the harness plug won't be the same - so no "plug and play". Personally, I'd go for a universal digital speedometer.

I put a Drag Specialties 140mph speedometer on my formerly gaugeless GS. It's a very nice gauge, has an odometer in it, and the needle moves very smoothly at all times. I put 9k miles on it with that before I sold the bike. Backlighting works well too.

I was going to get around to making a cluster around it, with a tach and an oil light but just never got around to doing it in time
