hey guys, Ive not really contributed much of anything to the board, but I spend more time reading here than anywhere else lately, so thank you carb tuning gurus and tinkerers.

ive been messing with my 92 gse trying to get her to run right for a while. Ive ripped the carbs apart so many times, I could do it blindfolded. the downfall of ripping them apart so many times is that Ive cracked the diaphragm cover caps twice now over the past year. Ive searched for this answer with no luck.

can any of you tell me if the metal caps from the newer gs's fit on my older carbs?

I'm fairly certain that I've seen someone with newer carbs use the older caps, so I suppose it would work the other way around.  But the metal caps have vacuum ports on them for the piston lift control system that you will have to plug up for them to work.  The main reason people switched to the older caps was so they didn't have to plug the ports when removing all of the extra emissions systems on their newer carbs.

I've never seen this, but I certainly could have missed it.  Could you find an example that someone has posted of doing this.  I just want to make sure that he doesn't get parts that don't work.

I already ordered the OE caps, I was just curious.

New carb caps will not fit the old carbs. Whole carbs will ...

Hmm, I swear I saw something along these lines, but I'd believe buddha over myself every day and twice on Sundays.
