I have 2000 GS500 with missing rear body work.  Does anyone have any pictures of a 2001 or later with the body work off?  I have a complete 2002 set with seat, lights, fender, bungee brackets, etc.  The mounting points for the side panels are in different locations.

Is there an earlier thread talking about converting an older bike to later body work?

If you have a complete set of the later bodywork just put it on and see where it doesnt fit. I mean, am I missing something? Grab yourself a bag of zip-ties and go to town!

I am making some thin guage stainless steel brackets that will attach to the existing subframe to hold the grommets in place for the new bodywork.  I am just wondering if the subframe is the same as the old one but with different mounting points.  The newer bikes must also use a different tank latch than the older bikes.

I will post pictures of any mods that are made to the subframe and / or brackets.

the side panel front grommets are in same place. The screw locations at mid panel and at rear are in same location but are oriented differently (attaching from top vs from side). Subframe's look prettty much same except that the older style has a grommet built into the rear peg brackets that arent needed (and arent there) on the newer models.

If you get this to work there are many that would be interested in a set of the brackets that would allow this mod, I'm sure. Just make sure you also have the seat latch and the small triangular black palstic peices that go at bottom rear of rear panels. These were added so that old subframe is covered by new bodywork, or so it would seem.

Keep us posted...
