Update 2 January 2015

So, i wound up making pilot screw modifications. Just as a start i wanna say this:

My setup roughly: open podfilters and an takkoni slip on.
Pilot screw setup: 3 full turns out.

Against my own expectation, my first try was just 3 turns out, and it drives very nice now (better then before).

But i guess, if you want to be able to easily adjust the screws, here's what i did :)

Step 1. Obtain your pilot screws.

Step 2. know someone with a lathe, and you're going to drill with 4 kinds of drills

1. A centerpointer.
2. A 1.5 mm drillbit
3. A 1.98 drillbit
4. A 1.98 spacer (i guess that's the translation of it. the bit under the package on the photo under here.)

Go no further then 5mm into the screw!!

Here are some photos of the progress.

5. Press a 2.0 mm steel thread trough it. i did this with the drillbit on the lathe bench. 5cm was my perfect length, it would bottom out on the drillbit, ensuring a good press.

6. This is what you end up with. Simply bend the ends in a 90 degree angle.

7. My complete kit.

8. This is the final result. very handy if you feel you need to tune your screws.

I wish you all a happy 2015!! :D

every time I see someone doing lathe or mill work, I get so jealous...

The allen wrenches are too long. You will break something if you stick your hand in there to say adjust the idle screw or just being careless removing them.
The screws should be no longer than the bowl.
Cool.

now, several months after having build this, i can rightfully say that even though i've adjusted my idle screw, i didnt turn or damage my homemade screws.

Aaaaand offcourse the clamps don't fit the holes in my gs500 <2001 yoke :*(

I gues i'll have to wait till next week before i get my new ones. If anyone wanna know: the holes are 10M not 12M

Well, the blinkers are on, so thats something :P

UPDATE 3 APRIL 2015

Just installed my new handlebar, and it looks FREAKING AWSOME! :D

I now see that i should really change out my front brace bracket. It looks like crap, and really needs to go next.

I love it  :thumb: Nice handlebar
(nog wel ff de brace netjes maken tussen de forkpoten)  ;)

Krav

Thanks man :) That means a lot to me :) (specially coming from someone with a bike like your's ;))

Weet jij waar ik in nederland zo'n brace kan bestellen? ik heb er al een paar keer naar gezocht, maar dan moest het helemaal uit Amerika komen.

What kind of brace do you mean?
Wat voor brace bedoel je?

Krav

I mean the brace plate between  the front forks you mentioned. I would love a new one, preferably thicker than what i have now.

Update 28 Oktober 2015

Hello chaps,

It has been a while. I've been having fun with my Gs500 trough the summer. I've been saving up some money aswell, and after my carbs started leaking (again) i decided it was time to bring my bike with all its little problems to a suzuki dealer. This is the (translated) list i gave them:

- Gas leaking from carbs
- Front brake makes whizzing noise
- Doesnt reach top speed
- Gas supply too little for full throttle
- Speed whobbles a bit
- knocking engine at times
- Please check the engine for the coming year

Bonus:
- If able fix the rpm counter on my trailtech vapor (its really inacturate and jumpy now)

The only thing they didnt fix is the last one! So thats great! for the grand prize for a bit over 500 euro's they checked all my little problems, and tuned it on the dyno.

This is the result:
