my bike has been having some weird starting issues, but the other day got it to start and took it out for a long ride.
came home and parked it, later that night I noticed a leak around some plug. Gas was dripping out of some plug, so i had to turn of fuel from tank.

Any suggestion on what this could be?

You should be a little more specific on what it's leaking from, but I'm guessing that it's leaking out of your airbox drain tube plug.  This is because the needle valves in at least one of the carbs in sticking open and allowing fuel to flow.  Do you have the petcock on "ON" or "PRI"?  Don't leave it on "PRI" (Prime), because if the needle valves do stick open, this will allow fuel to flow.  "ON" should require vacuum from a running engine to allow fuel to flow, but the petcock could be malfunctioning as well.

I am actually not sure where the hose is coming from without completely removing the gas tank. It looks like a arrow type end on the hose. The petcock is in the ON position while riding, but when I first start it, sometimes like I did before this ride, I left the PRI on for a few minutes until I took bike out for a ride.

What can i do to fix this problem? I am a new to motorcycles repairs and was thinking about taking into a shop, but not sure if its even safe to drive  :icon_confused:

Sounds like the airbox hose to me.  In all likelyhood you could probably still ride it.  How much gas leaked?  Most likely you just have the gas that was in the fuel line after the petcock that leaked.

The problem that you are facing at this point is you don't know for sure if you flooded the cylinders at all.  You should take both spark plugs out, and then put the bike in a high gear and spin the back wheel slowly to push out any gas in the cylinders.  Make sure the kill switch is set to OFF and ignition is off.  Also, you might have diluted your oil with gasoline.  You should check your oil level and see if it's high and/or smells like gas.  If not, then I would say you are safe to ride somewhere to get it serviced.

If you comfortable with learning how to do things, then I would recommend getting a manual and cleaning or replacing the needle valve sets in the carbs yourself.

I noticed gas leaking when I came home from the store. Got out of the car and smelled gas in the parking lot of my apartment complex and thought I should check my bike, looked over and noticed my bike was leaking and a big puddle of gas below it. I ended up turning the gas tank switch off and shortly afterwards it stopped leaking.
I have not ran it since. The petcock was in the ON position.

Just tried checking the spark plugs and they seemed to have a lot of gas on them, and tried the turninig the tire, but no gas came out by the spark plug holes.
I also check the oil, and it did smell like gas, but didnt look like the oil level went up at all since I last check the oil level (few weeks ago). The smell could have been from the smell of gas near the spark plugs when I took them out.

If there is gas in the oil what does that mean? And is it fixable without spending hundreds of dollars? Should I try to turn the gas switch on and attempt to start it?

Sounds like your carbs and your petcock could use servicing.  You might want to change the oil to be safe.
Wack each carb a few times on the bowl to see if you can get the needle valves to seat better.  Turn the petcock on prime and hook a clear tube to the carb drain and open the drain.  If the gas level in the clear tube goes above the float bowl gasket then your needle valves aren't sealing.

Actually another possibility could be a tear in the petcock diaphragm that's allowing gas to flow through the vacuum line.  Take the vacuum line off at the carbs and see if you have gas leaking through it.
