Of particular annoyance:

Urban restaurant delivery people
Urban bike share users

These people are very bane of bicycle existence.

Exactly!
Like Lower Manhattan isn't congested enough...
It's also infested with an army of Chinese food delivery bikes (& rat-scooters).

I guess that's what happens when you put Tribeca right next to China Town.  :icon_mrgreen:

He broke the law

There is a reason why it is illegal to do things like what he did - it's a hazard to other drivers and to the bicyclists themselves.
If he ends up dead because of his impudence, that's his own fault.

To put it in perspective, if he had done the same thing on a motorcycle he likely would have been arrested.

I understand this perfectly. You were attacked by a bicycle Twinkie.

...

Glad you survived the attack Kijona.
My thoughts are with you brother.

Haha...do I detect a slight bit of sarcasm there? :)

I asked an LEO in Atlanta yesterday about this situation. He said that if he had seen him do what he did to get through the intersection he would have cited him for failure to yield and reckless driving (lol?). Dunno how that'd hold up in court but still good to hear. The LEO seemed like he didn't care much for bicyclists.

What's interesting is he said he likely would have ARRESTED the bicyclist if he had been there when he followed me all that way. He said that following someone to confront them could put them in jail due to its excessively aggressive nature. Given that, I would imagine, had I needed to defend myself, I would have been well within my right.

Now, granted, this person (bicyclist) wasn't exactly INTIMIDATING per se. It was just a crazy situation that took me by surprise, especially given the fact that I really didn't even say anything nasty to the man to warrant him following me 4-5 miles.

Ehh dont get me started on the anti cyclist rants here. Weve as much right to use the roads too. In fact we are required to do so. BUT are required to follow same laws as other vehicles. Seems that guy didnt know what road rules were for. I DID get two warnings before. Both verbal. One for speeding lol 45 in a 25, this was before i started motorising bicycles. And one yes for blowing a stop. I had a guy trying to run me over
