Clutch Question

I just adjusted my clutch lever for the 1st time and I'm worried that I am now wearing the clutch plates.
When I roll the bike in neutral (engine off), it rolls very easily but when I kick it into 1st with the clutch lever fully compressed I start to get a little resistance and it isn't as easy for the bike to roll. Is this normal or do I need to adjust something to prevent wear to the clutch plates? On the other end, how can I tell if when the clutch lever is fully released that it won't be causing damage? When i accelerate in gear it never slips so does this mean it is ok on that end?

You should always have some free-play in your clutch cable.

Resistance to rolling in gear with a cold engine is normal.

I wouldn't worry about a little resistance, it's normal with cold oil & wet clutch. Shouldn't do it with a hot engine, though.
Normally I park my GS in 1st gear if I stop anywhere that's not home & I know I'm not gonna put her on the center stand (kinda like handbrake on cars), then just start her back up (with the clutch lever pulled in) if the engine's still hot when I get back. This Monday I could feel her move forwards while doing this, clutch lever completely pulled in - just plain 'warm' feels 'hot' to the hands in this weather I think, and the oil on the clutch plates can act like this when it's a bit more viscous than at operating temperature.

EDIT: yeah, what burning1 said, I wasn't quick enough I guess :)

Ride it like a 2 stroke:
1: Rev high
2: Add oil
3: Repeat

Ok cool, I have about 4mm of free play so I wasn't to worried about that but it is good to hear that there should be a little resistance when in gear with the wet clutch and I'm not just slowly grinding it down  :D

Push rod free play is also important for proper clutch action in addition to the cable free play.  Give it a good 3 point clutch adjustment to get it setup right, from Suzuki shop manual:

Once setup right you'll only need occasional cable free play adjustment.  I've only done a couple 3 point adjustment on my 02 in 100k miles with only the lever adjustments in between.
