Finished Installing Custom LEDs! (Pics)

Just finished installing LEDs on Emma
All hooked up to a toggle switch, each LED strip has its own disconnect for easy removal/change and all of the connections/splices are properly solderd then covered in heat shrink wrap and finally a healthy layer of electrical tape. Everything was wired under the tank zip-tied to factory wires to ensure nothing is visible and none of the wires melt. For anyone thinking of doing this little project, put in the extra work to make sure everything is done properly. It will take a lot more time, but you will be so glad u did it in the end. And it will last a lot longer too!

(By custom I mean nothing came in a kit, all wiring is original)

COOL!!!    I love when things are done right with extra attention on the details.    I love that third pic with the lights running under the tail section like that.  Great work!!!  Might be a silly question but what are the gauges set in the fairing above the red switch (in the second pic)?

Thanks The guages and red switch are custom, designed and installed by electrojake (from this forum) before I bought the bike off of him. There are 4 of them, one is a clock, another an oil temp, another a cylinder head temp, and another is a volt meter. The red switch is a master switch that powers all of the auxiliary options on the bike, including the 12V power socket. So in order to turn on my LEDs, I flick the red switch then I flick the secondary switch (not shown). I was inspired to do things right when I took a close work at the immaculate electrical work that electrojake did. I followed his protocol and was self taught from everything he did. He's frikkin awesome lmao

That is really nifty... quite the informative setup    Dunno if he will ever see this but great work to you too electrojake!!    

I plan on adding a clock somewhere onto my GS this winter sometime.  There are many times when I am riding that I would really like to know what time it is (and if I am gonna make it to work on time LOL)

Hey thanks and he really did a phenomenal job he usually browses this forum every few months, but he no longer has a gs500 so he does not frequent as much as he used to. And totally go for the clock, but IMHO I think u should go for a digital setup rather than an analog one. Although the analog IMO looks cooler and suits the analog gauges of the bike better, it can be difficult to read as ur riding sometimes, digital is pretty easy. Also if ur not looking to make a big project out of it, they sell small battery powered ones that fit nicely on the nook between ur speedo and tach. I've seen it on other bikes before, I'll see if I can find a pic and add it to this thread.

Hell yea! hehe and the extra plastic does an awesome job of hiding A LOT of wiring.
And I never really got a chance to appreciate the amount of work u put into it until I really started taking things apart and backtracking what u did.

I actually just order a few red LEDs, to put along the back, so that when I pull the brakes they light up as well, for extra visibility. I don't think I'll be getting to that any time soon tho cuz my first wave of exam is rounding the corner
But all in due time I guess, it was good to hear from u tho! Whatcha riding now anyways?

Yeah most likely especially blue lol

Might do it for fun sometime but would love to have some white fx for night riding... my luck I'd get pulled over and tased in 2 minutes

A 2006 Harley XL1200C.
My Son recently bought a 2014 Yamaha WR250R.
and I still have a basement full of old mopeds, (only one of which is currently insured, registered, & street-legal).

And if the money tree in my backyard holds out... I was interested in getting a Suzuki DR200S for running errands and such.

BTW; does your father still have that Monstrous Honda street sled?

Woah, that's an awesome collection! we should get a group and go riding sometime!

I actually got a nail driven right through my rear tire last night on my way home hehe, I'm debating whether I should plug it or just get new tires, I'm gonna need a new set anyways.

And yes my dad still has the shadow and I take it out once every few weeks for a sprint around the area. Now that I've been riding for a while the weight isn't as cumbersome to me as it used to feel, it's actually more nimble than it looks lol

Anyways, best of luck with everything and keep the rubber side down!
