Bike leaking Gas after it sits for a couple of hours.

Hello everyone, so i am Jtl's Cousin and i need help in diagnosing a problem with my 2005 Gs500. I honestly believe this bike was in a wreck, since the exhaust is a bit scratched the fairings removed converted to a gs500e. The handlebar is a bit twisted, the guy who sold it to me said he just "dropped it"...

this just recently started to happen after we put a K&N Lunchbox, it has been rejected with proper pilots. also i forgot to mention in the video well didn't explained it properly i left it sitting for a day and a half, upon turning it on it shot out a lot of white smoke (possibly of morning condensation) but not making assumptions, gas goes into the air box, i don't know if it backfires or squirts from the crank hose. I will be checking the hose tomorrow to see if it isn't clogged, i just don't know if i have to swap the needles. Oil looks clean no gas is going in to the oil. Also does any one have an fuel lines for sale, some of the lines are starting to get dry rot.

Stuck float needle. causing it to over flow the carbs.

you left your petcock on PRIME.

or bad float bowel gasket.

the oil/gas combo is just the gas dripping from the carbs onto the engine case, where road gunk/oil get stuck too. it has nothing to do with your problem.

The petcock is set on ON, i did in fact set it to prime when i finished putting everything back, prime was only set for 30 seconds then put it on ON. i will check on the floats tomorrow, or should i just replace them? or is there other methods of getting them unstuck.

sometimes the float needle just gets "sticky" and a good cleaning of them will do you just fine. and can be reused.

sometimes the float needle seat gets worn and deformed. then it needs to be replaced..

and on a rare and weird occasion. the float needle gets a piece of sand stuck INSIDE it, causing it to scrape/get stuck... [sand.  >:( :bs:

when you set it on prime, you might of pushed some old gas/gunk that was inside the prime lines into the carbs, and that's what caused your problem.

oh alright thanks :woohoo:, is there anything i have to worry about? like do i remove em or spray it with carb cleaner etc.. O0 ... don't wanna mess it up you know.

carb cleaner is "okay" it works, just takes a bit more work then to say, kerosene.. I've also used WD-40 to clean carbs.. some may nay say about it though. so its up to you. mostly due to rubber parts.

another option is the gallon can of carb cleaner and dunk em for i to 1w hours, although sometimes id dink for 24. They come out great BUT, youd have to remove any runber or plastic from it. Before doing so. I learned the hard way lol. But tbh youve been into your carbs already, this really isnt that much more workm

My 2006 (K6) did the same thing last weekend, I set it to prime and the engine cylinder, and air box filled with gas,
I cleaned it all out did a oil change fitted new plugs and all is now fine, I will strip and clean the carbs this weekend coming
