Carb Trouble

Hi all, Having just recently completed a full nut & bolt restoration of a 92 GS500E I,ve got a slight issue with the carburation. This bike had sat unstarted for 13 years, so the first job was to clean out the carbs which were blocked with gummed up old fuel. I replaced the standard 120-40 jets and its running standard Air filter and Exhaust system.First thing I noticed is that on startup it needs no choke at all, starts first touch of the button, idles fine, but if I give it a quick handful of throttle it just bogs down to a point where you,d think its about to stall, it then picks up and revs freely  :dunno_black: any ideas whats causing this? is some passage in the carbs still blocked ? cheers

120/40 ??? what country is the bike from ? Europe got 125/40. US got 122.5/37.5. In any case, the 120 is a lot less important for startup, that 40 is correct. No choke = rich, you have the floats set right ? air screw @ 3 out ? One/both of these 2 is off IMHO.

That in a way could alleviate that fall on its face when revved situation.
However if it does that under load, and after you set everything else right, you may have a slide coming up too fast. Get to that problem at the end, fix the rest first.

Thanks Buddha,  I'm in UK and that's the size of jets which were in there, I just replaced them as they were pretty chewed up. I didn't touch the mixture screws as I didn't know any settings for them. I, will pull the carbs off and adjust the mixture 3 turns out. Thanks for your help.
