corrosion on electric connectors, how to solve?

The right hand brake (handlebar) works well, but the brake light doesn't seem to go on.
I traced the problem to the electric cable connectors on the handbrake.
I think the plugs are corroded. Best solution on how to make it work again, pref permanent, not a temporary fix ?

Clean the terminals and plug carefully and a tiny smear of dialectic grease on the terminals then put plug back on?

400 grit, wet/dry paper.  :dunno_black:

you can also use a brass/bronze what ever it is, brush.

dielectric grease was what i was looking for!

I recently read this post RE dialectic grease. I was always concerned about non conductive grease on (most) connectors....

Oh yeah for sure! .. too much is not good.. greased pig catching comes to mind!  Lol. .

Hence-  tiny smear! ... yes it could attract dust. .. but this situ,  if I interpret correctly is a 'fix up for now' situ. ... a true permanent fix would be to replace the whole assembly with a new one! ... but he asked how to fix it, not how to replace it/which would be a good replacement...

Repair vs replace!

Of course replace 'should' be the better option....?

If your contacts are buggered up put some CAIG DeOxit on the contacts and then repeatedly plug then unplug the connection, the DeOxit can be left on the metal contacts to prevent oxidation in the future.
