The engine from any year GS, should fit fine in an year frame. It's the carbs and a few other electrical items that changed.

No oil cooler on either 2000 or 1993 GS500E models for US market.  Both have mechanical tach, both have dual coil ignition pickups, neither have 3 circuit carbs so this should be an easy one.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Oops... didn't notice the E designation. .. pardon my red face!  Lol

You need the full 2000 harness, an electronic tach, the duel throttle cables, the 2000 carbs and intake boots, the 200p throttle hand control, and the 2000 petcock do it painlessly in one go.

You can make block off plates for the PARE system and cap off the vac lines on the carb or leave it in place. I put an K&N oil breather filter on mine and left the system in tact as their us no gain in removing it.
