Im back with a GS question,
My engine has oil on it what seems to be seeping from the head gasket.
I heard it is scheduled maintenance to re torque the head bolts, is this true? ( i don't have a manual)
If so can someone tell me what bolts i need to re-torque and what the ft lbs are.

Hopefully that resolves it, if not, gasket replacement isn't that difficult. You could also do a visual inspection of your head gasket. If it's hard and brittle it needs to be replaced. Good luck!  :)

Tappet cover gasket you mean? Larn?

Everything below my finger has oil on it, so this is the gasket that is leaking


Im guessing these are the bolts that need re torquing

either that, or the gasket needs replacing.
On my last oil filter change, the filter fitted but the gasket didn't, so I had to reuse it.
it was still functioning, and flexible, but looking flat and worn on some sides...

Just to clarify there are bolts outside as well as inside the cam cover.

Slug, you're partially correct. Those are two of the eight nuts and studs you'll need to tighten. There are another on the opposing side of the picture you took (as I'm sure you're aware) and bmf is correct, there are four more studs and nuts that need torquing on the inside. Pretty sure you'll have to remove the tappet/gasket/cylinder head cover (Which is not the head, itself, thanks Janx :oops:). There are also two other screws, each opposing each other. They'll be between your intake and exhaust ports on the head, if I'm not mistaken. You'll have to remove your airbox and cam tensioner to torque one. I think the other one is pretty simple by comparison.
