Turn Signal Relays

Hi everyone,

Not sure if anyone has posted this specific fault before - my 2k7F had some very odd behaviours with the turn signals. From cold the signals would work fine, after indicating here and there on a ride the signals would just start flashing slower and slower and eventually stop.  Not so good on the commute home if you don't have indicators that work..  :police:

At first I had expected that the handlebar switch may have had a poor connection so I gave that a good clean and the problem persisted. So I checked all the connections, disconnecting the wiring harness from the handlebar and bridging the connections for the signals (bypassing the handlebar switch).

Outcome was that the electronic turn signal relay had a half fried transistor that was failing after a few minutes cumulative operation. $20 for a new signal relay and life is good again.

I have noticed that a new signal relay is now driving the stock indicator lamps a lot brighter as well - so possibly if you have noticed dimmer or slower indicators a new relay could be an easy fix.   :icon_idea:

On an earlier thread others on the forum have suggested replacing the turn signal fluid.  That might be an easy fix as well.  If it doesn't take, you may have to flush the system and get some good fluid running through it.

But yeah def try the OP's suggestion.  Thanks for the tip
