I took her on the track, it was the first time for us both. After a recent new clutch and going down to a 15t sprocket on the front is has become and back road muncher! I would advise anyone to get on a track asap! You learn so much about your bike, but ride at your own pace and learn which ever circuit you go to! I will leave you with a little picture of me at Three Sisters Raceway in Ashton-in-makerfield, UK.

I'm planning my first track day with my GS in May.  Would love to hear more details from your day if you feel like adding more.  Also, I love your bike setup.  Any more photos of the bike on or off the track?  Kudos on takin it to the track.

@NYNJ8 Where do you plan on taking your GS? Are you across the pond? :)
It's a pretty basic set up I have apart from my Renthal style bars, that's the only addition I have really made, that and my slightly sturdier fork brace (Which I would heavily advise, stiffens up the front end just a touch to give you more confidence)

It was a charity event which was £10 for 10 laps of a 1473m circuit (http://www.three-sisters.co.uk/circuit.asp), I was more than nervous but I took my time for about 4 laps until I knew my bike was up to temp along with my tires so I could ride the track as fast as I felt I could (Not pushing too hard as I wanted to get home!) On my second attempt I felt comfortable from the start, 5 laps in and I was banked right over enjoying the twists and turns of the track BUT THEN SHOCK HORROR, I entered the back straight, up to about 90mph I see the corner closing quickly and apply both breaks, the rear leaver just drops to the floor and I loose all confidence in the blink of an eye! (I think I annoyed the gixxer behind me too!) After nursing around the track to the pit lane, I found out I had boiled my rear break and just needed to let it cool (I just spent £300 on a full service, I though I ruined my breaks!) So top tip to all, try not to ride the back brake, you might not realise you are even doing it!

But all in it was a fantastic day, here are some more pictures of my machine, if you want to know anything more, just give me a shout!

I think its the combination of the color scheme with the headlight setup that I really like.  Also dig the white lettering on the tires.  Well done :thumb:  Yes I'm going to a track stateside in CT.  What was your gear setup for the track?  Looks like you had on a hoodie and I assume an armored vest or jacket underneath?  I believe the track Im going to requires full leather one or two piece suit.  Not sure on that though.

The GS isn't particularly the lightest bike, with the most HP for a 500cc...
How's she keeping up with the other bikes?

From the looks of the bikes, I'm pretty sure they where not racing, otherwise the headlights would have been taped up.

Thank you very much NYNJ8 sure does look the part, if I do say so myself. I was wearing a 2 piece with a 3/4 zip and a hoodie over the top as you said! I would wear no less!

MeeLee the bike really shines in the corners surprisingly, the 15t on the front turns it into a little fly up to about 60-80mph, but as said we weren't "racing" as such! But my little bike didn't miss a beat!

Well,
many take their street bikes "as is", to the tracks.
Could be, but you're right, they weren't angled high enough to be looking like they're racing.

I put a 17t in recently to check it out.  3rd and 4th gear are better but it requires too much clutch and throttle play in low speed maneuvering for my taste.  Maybe I'll try 15t just for a woot but I think 16 is just about perfect.
