Kerry- You can get on track with parental permission down to 14 yr old with most race/track day orgs.

Octane- What size porportion are you?  I may have a suit that will fit you that I could sell cheap.

I'm used to things being long in limb, so that doesn't bother me too much, so long as it fits my torso! Cheap leathers would be a hell of a motivation to lose a few lbs. too - if it's a close fit I'll join John's Atkins revolution to lose a few inches by May! Thanks.

Quote from: JamesGWhat do you mean by "age limitations"?
I think 96gs was referring to the fact that he's pushing 16 years of age himself.  (Or is it 17 by now?)

No, actually I'm only 15. And like I said before, no doubt the youngest member on a GS500E and on GStwin.com. And before all of you blow up on me by saying how young I am, I would like to say that I always have to ride with my dad. We have talked to our local PD and they said that as long as I am with him and don't pull nothing stupid (which I haven't) then they won't give me a second look. Come to think of it, ever since me and him started riding together, he's the only one that had a bad spill. Scared the hell out of me to. Oh yea sorry for getting off topic.

Anyways, I would love to go to the track on my bike, but I dont think I am ready for something like that.

You can start in a beginner group. It has passing in the straights only. You can pull off into the pits any time or go as fast as you want. Track riding really does build confidence. You can really concentrate on your riding. Less to worry about...no oncoming traffic, no cops, no debris and no animals (unless at Jennings with and the turtles or even an alligator). I went with Marietta Motorsports for there trackday at Talladega GPR. I think is was $125 for the day. I had (6) 20 minutes session, could have had a 7th. It is a great track to go to for the first time with clear turns, good surface and plenty of runoff. My avatar is my first time a Tally and the first day riding my GS.

If you can put together the entrance fee, then I would say go for the track day!  You'll have a blast and I think you'll quickly learn that the best way to improve your riding skills on the track.  Plus, 15 is a good age to start.  In fact the fastest novice at Willow Spring's race school in January was a 14 year old on a 125GP bike.

Only problem with track riding is that it's $$$, both in terms of track time and also in bike maitenance and performance upgrades.

Yea. Hopefully I can get a job soon and since I don't really need to pay for anything I figure I can put the money towards better gear and maybe some track days.

I am going to Jennings on May 8th and/or 9th. The 7th is my b-day, so it will be my present to myself. Just putting this out for future planning if anyone is interested. I will post this again when closer to the date.

I'll pencil that date in and see if I have the bike together by then...
