Katana Rear Shock rebound dial orientation

Just got my Katana rear shock today that I scored on ebay. I cleaned it up and am ready to install.

Is there a best side to orient the rebound dial at the top of the shock? I'm trying to determine which side gives best access for adjustments? Chain side (left) or brake side (right)?

Its hard for me to tell what might be in the way because I have 2/3 of the bike dismantled at the moment.

Thanks.

I think I have mine pointed to the left (chain side).  But that was unplanned... I think the rear brake stuff might interfere a little.

All I know is adjusting the preload is a PITA  :x

I have mine with the rebound damping to the right.  Its much easier to reach on the sidestand and I think a little more accessible to get your hand in there since you aren't reaching over the chain guard.  I can adjust it at stoplights while sitting on the bike, though not easily (useful for when you have to hit the slabs and want to cut back on the hobby-horsing).
